Here they grew up in a wild country before Arkansas became a state. Their Neighbors were the Hill Family, who had arrived in the Mulberry River Valley a few years before, The Englishs, the Arnolds, the Arboughs, the Byrds, the Dickersons, the Mooneys and of course their uncles, aunts and cousins.
Along with John Henry came his brothers Authur N, William James and Uriah Davis. His sister Jane ( Jennie ) Davis came with her husband Joseph Stewart to settle in this beautiful river valley and I believe that Annie Davis came too but this hasn't been proven.
John Henry bought land along the Mulberry River and made his living as a farmer. He gave the land for the Yale Cemetery to the community, so I believe he must have been a good and generious man. He died in 1859 and is buried at the Yale Cemetery.
Martha Mooney Davis died in 1858 and is also buried at the Yale Cemetery alongside of Jane and Joseph Stewart.
